Looks Are Deceiving

After brunch, I had mom's house to myself again for 4 hours or so to do more uninterrupted studying. I was just not as focuses today so there were many more "study breaks" to check some blogs :)

For dinner, she was really craving chicken parm! After I gave her the healthy eating lecture we left for the restaurant...A delicious local place called Luigi's! My mom frequently complains that she wants to lose weight and I give her all the info but she just doesn't follow through...*sign*.

We started with salads, then I ordered something new! Chicken (something...Milanese or Verona?)..anyway it was described as chicken with grilled zucchini, ricotta, sun dried tomatoes, Romano, maybe something else, and a shallot burgundy sauce. I guess I was picturing some saute of sorts...but what I got was this:

Whoa! Looked really good though! Esp with that prosciutto wrapped asparagus! For my side I got the mixed veggies:

Unfortunately when I cut into the chicken to see what was inside that big ball-o-fun...the chicken was NOT cooked :(

Sadness...so I sent it back and she said that the chef would either re-make it or I could order something different. Seeing the raw chicken kind of made me lose my desire for that, so I changed it up and simply ordered the Shrimp and Chicken Scampi with no pasta! While I was waiting I had a few bites of moms chicken Parmesan...SO GOOD!

Then it arrived!

This was incredible! Lemony, garlicky, tender!! I wasn't really hungry by then but I had two shrimps and a piece of chicken...yay leftovers!

Speaking of leftovers...I have a boatload of them! The scampi, quiche, salad and soup from yesterday! Woohoo!!

I have a feeling this isn't going to be a great exercise week. Luckily I got in a little run/walk yesterday, but I am really going to need my after work time for studying!! My one for sure workout this week though is DANCE!! I'm so excited! Since this review class started I've had to miss my Tuesday night Jazz class and that's my favorite type of workout! I'm not missing it this week though, and we have rehearsal for the rep show in Dec!

I should go to bed, but I'm watching the Sox!!! Good Night!

  2. Whoa that's an awesome idea to order without the pasta. I hate pasta :( So I never order those dishes, even though they sound so good! Thanks for the idea :D

  3. My mom is EXACTLY the same way. She has changed her lifestyle a lot, and is a lot better, but she still makes bad choices sometimes, and then complains about not losing weight. Old habits die hard I guess...

What a beautiful looking scampi, enjoy those leftovers!! :)

  4. My mom and I are the exact opposite. She tends to order much healthier than I do. I've found the same thing happens when ordering from a restaurant so I often ask a lot of questions because otherwise it is so easy to think you're ordering something healthy until you see what comes.

bummer about the raw chicken, but that scampi looks AMAZING!
my mom is the same way.. she doesn't eat well at all (and works at a world famous health resort) and asks me how to lose weight, but doesn't want to change her habits. she hates exercising too. *sigh* i worry about her health more than anything!
hope you have a great day!

  8. Sounds like you had a good dinner with your mom, minus the uncooked chicken. At least you got something to replace that was just as good, if not better. That scampi looked really good!

  9. My mom is that way, too....it's so sad, because I don't want her to think I'm judging, I'm just a worry wart and I want her to be healthy... :-)

    That food looks AMAZing!

  10. My Mom is the same way! She complains and never listens to what I have to say. Oh well.

That's awful about the chicken, it looks like what you ended up with was a lot better though! :)
