Waste of $10

Well there's 1.5 hours (actually less) of my life I am never getting back...yes I went to the movies. I saw...yes you guessed it...Mall Cop! Now this is NOT a movie I would normally go and see. I love funny movies, but I don't like stupid funny movies...and this movie definitely falls into the latter category.

You see, my roommate and her co-worker decided to sign up to be extras for the movie (it was shot at a mall near here), and they got to do it!! Cool right?? Well 15 hours at that mall "on set" one day, my roommate forced to wear some god awful poncho from Limited Too (yes the kids clothing store), and they weren't even seen in the movie!! Big Bummer! More of a bummer that we sat through it. I mean there were a few kind of funny parts but nothing that made me tear up crying...which I like :)

Anyways, this morning I had to go to this breakfast near my office that was an annual breakfast for the chamber of commerce in the area where I work...many local mayors and town managers spoke. It was good to hear, and I got to have like a full breakfast...fruit, a few potatoes, omelet bar, 2 slices of bacon, and a mini cheese danish...Damn you basket of pastries!! So obviously no pics there, but lunch was photogenic!

It is FREEZING here!!!! I think there was a high of 8 degrees today! 45 min north of me, people woke up to -20 degree weather! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Plus, my fiance is up in the White Mountain region of NH tonight for the weekend with friends...he's about 2.5/3 hours north of Boston and I can't even imagine how much colder it is up there!!!

The cure: SOUP!

Bowl of TJ's Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper soup, with added frozen veggies (corn, peas, green beans).Garnished with Bagel chip "croutons"

Slice of GH Dakota bread, toasted with cheddar cheese!Filling, Warming, and Delicious.

Well, tomorrow's weather isn't getting much warmer, so I think Hot Yoga will be Wonderful!! Especially since I can still use my week pass :)

TGIF!

Blah Weather!

I love snow in December because I am getting all hyped up for Christmas and it's so pretty. However, usually around mid-January (not even there yet) I am SO ready for spring. I'd have to say Jan, Feb, March are the worst months in my opinion. There are still fun events that go on but its usually uneventful and cold. It's a lovely mix of sleet/freezing rain right now, after it snowed during the night. However, as much as I complain about the winter I can not imagine living anywhere other than New England...I love the seasons and I love how there is so much within such a small area...beaches, lakes, mountains, skiing, history, great shopping :) and great food!

Speaking of food... yesterday's oatmeal was delicious! Although I miss being able to make my stove top oats. Someone brought these in to work, and the crumbs at the bottom of the bag were PERFECT oat toppersThese clusters could be dangerously addicting!
The usual mix:
  • 1/3 c. oats, 1/3 c. water, 1/3 c. skim milk, salt
  • 1 small banana
  • 1 tsp pumpkin butter
Topped with:
  • nut cluster crumbs/pieces
  • low fat granola
  • about 1/5 of a coconut cream Larabar, crumbled
  • spoon of White Choc. PB
  • approx. 3 butterscotch chips, 2 choc. chips, and 2 PB chips from trail mix :)
Lunch:
A perfect sandwich on Great Harvest Dakota bread!!
  • Tuna salad made with a little lite mayo, Dijon mustard, celery salt, and black pepper
  • tomato
  • greens
  • alfalfa sprouts
  • cucumber
  • red onion
  • mmmmmmmmmmm
with a side of cut up carrot.I was so excited to get back to dance class last night, but I found out there was a Bruin's game at the Garden, so that meant I would need a ride and the roomie wasn't going to be home in time. I guess it worked out though because I had a lot of work so I just worked late.

Working late really screws up my whole day. I didn't get home til a little after 8. Had dinner then it seemed like I was getting ready for bed!! Luckily roomie had just cooked up some frozen Lobster ravioli...I had a few...they were actually quite good!!
I also had some deli meat picked out of leftover wraps that were in the office, and a small salad of greens for my veggie!
I ended the night grilling up some chicken breasts I defrosted to have for lunches this week...Also, these pictures are the only pictures on my camera right now...and I don't know why!!!! I had SO many on there and now they are gone!? Most are on my comp, thankfully, but still WTF?!!! I didn't go erase-happy recently so I don't think I erased them all by accident...weird.

Back to the Grind

Well today I headed back to work for the first time since Christmas Eve!! (well I went in for 3 hours on New Years Eve), but that doesn't really count. It was...well, work. Man it wasn't a smooth transition back into blogging as well, I didn't take ANY pictures until dinner!

Brief weekend recap:

I knew I had to have some of my new Great Harvest bread for break fast...A delicious thick slice of Dakota bread, toasted...half with PB and J, the other with smart balance and J. By the way my "J" is really TJ's raspberry fruit spread...its just raspberries...yum!

And a banana...I also got a fun package from Food Buzz...

It was a promotional gift from MOO MiniCards!
Mini business cards for Yogurt and Berries!
The plastic case contains mini business cards each with a beautiful glossy picture of some type of food on the back. I have never seen business cards like this before! What a wonderful idea. The only little problem is that they put my first and last name...not something I would like to make public with the website, but if I decide to pass them out I can just black it out with a Sharpie :)

Saturday continues...

We went to Brian's stepbrother's wedding! It was very simple gathering and the couple paid for everything by themselves so that means they did a lot themselves, but everything looked wonderful.

Sunday...

...involved a lot of shopping. I really wanted to hit up the Nike Outlet for some new sneakers that would work with my new Nike + Ipod! Everything was going well until Brian wanted to check if the J. Crew outlet had any dress shirts on sale. Well they did, as well as lots of other great sales! I got a few things...well 5 things!! Oh well whats done is done.

On the way home we stopped in Manchester, NH where we both lived for about a year after graduation. We stopped at our favorite breakfast/lunch spot. I had a delicious veggies sandwich with a side of fruitThen more driving, more errands and later on made dinner!

We bought a rotisserie chicken...YUM!! I never think of buying one but man I need to do it more often. I also made some broccoli, sauteed in olive oil, garlic, and some whole grain mustard. All with a side of GH Nine Grain Bread.
And a little bbq for dipping...mmm.

Dessert was a fresh batch of No Pudgies!
Tonight: GYM!

Now I think it's really great that people get motivated to workout for the new year...but SERIOUSLY it's annoying! Luckily I left work a few minutes early because by the time I got off the treadmill there were people WAITING for cardio machines!! I hope this dies down ASAP. I did however have a super sweaty workout.

40 min of cardio and 10 min of weights

Totals:
50 min 44 sec
373 cals
Max HR 181
Avg HR 149

I also used my Nike Ipod attachment, but I think I need to calibrate it because either it's off or the treadmill is off, which very well could be. For instance at one point the treadmill said I was at an 8min/mile pace but the Ipod said 7 min/mile!
