Rain Day??

Yes I am currently blogging from my apt...but wait its like 8:30AM?? Why aren't I at work?? I got a text at 6:30am from one of my managers saying that the power was down at the office so for now don't bother to come in. Well the power is still out, so as of right now I have no work!! Yay but still annoying because I don't really want to have to use a vacation day (need to save those for the honeymoon next year).

This did, however, give me a great opportunity to make some stove top oats!!! I haven't done that in a LONG time. I also had some Libby's canned pumpkin and ricotta cheese...oh the possibilities. My mixture contained:

*1/3 cup oats (well a little more because there was only a tiny bit left)
*1/3 cup water and 1/3 cup milk
*salt and vanilla
*1/2 banana
Heat!
Towards the end I added:
*big heaping spoonful of pumpkin
*big spoonful of part skim ricotta cheese
*1tsp+ of pumpkin butter
*cinnamon and nutmeg

Once reached desired consistency, I topped with my gingerbread granola and a spoon of White Choc. PB.
I enjoyed my oats with a nice mug of coffee with milk and a splash of egg nog!
I may or may not have gone and added a little temptation trail mix, simply for some choc. chips and PB chips...I just LOVE when they melt. I only added 2 choc and 2 PB chips.

Before I got the second text about not coming in today, I decided to take advantage of extra morning time (esp since I already showered...no going back to sleep), and get going on cookies that I was planning to make tonight.

I am always looking for a good SOFT gingerbread cookie...that I can frost later. I have this amazing cookbook that I don't use nearly enoughOne of the big things I really want to make from this book is classic Croissants! I know its a long process, but I'm game for it...just need a day to do that. For now I got my dry ingredients all set...although I need more ground ginger...I'll put that on the list for today.Last night was The Nutcracker!! So beautiful, I practically know the whole thing by heart but it still gets me SO excited. I couldn't take any pictures inside the theater, but the lobby is also gorgeous

This beautiful Opera House in Boston. It was nicely decorated for Christmas too!

My absolute favorite scene is the Snow Pas de duex. They make it snow on stage and its just the most gorgeous music and gorgeous scene. This is a random version from You Tube...THIS IS NOT THE BOSTON BALLET, I just wanted you to hear the music...the one I saw was WAY better than this

I also finally uploaded pics from my Holiday cocktail I went to this past Saturday. I think I said this before but everyone else was there since 8pm and we arrived at 10 after my dance performance...Brian's friends informed him he had some catching up to doMe and the Roomie! I love how she curled her hair!Brian and I...doesn't he look spiffy ;) I ended up wearing this dress last night too. Too bad you can't see the shoes...they are awesome, white and black with a gold buckle!

Well I am totally going to take advantage of this non working day....hello Christmas Shopping!!

Good thing my oatmeal was REALLY filling this morning...I need my shopping energy ;)

Have a great Friday peeps!!

  10. I just found your blog and I really enjoy reading it already! That oatmeal concoction looks amazing. I love the nutcracker! I was in it three years ago as a soldier and a cherub. But now I'm too tall for all the parts! Enjoy your day off!
