Mom’s Day Tea

It’s become a tradition :)

After some manicures and a quick trip into the North End for some yummy treats to take home, I took my mom to the beautiful Boston Harbor Hotel for afternoon tea.

This hotel is gorgeous and the restaurant where we had the tea was overlooking the harbor…Rowe Wharf Sea Grille.

The restaurant was ending lunch just as the first seating for tea was beginning. All I could smell was delicious seafood dishes and I almost asked for a lunch menu instead :)

A harpist played during the tea

We started with pink champagne

Then came fresh strawberries with Devonshire cream. The cream had little bits of brown sugar sprinkled on top. Mmmmmmmm I wish I had more strawberries for that cream!

Tea..

I can’t remember the name of the tea I had, but it was a blended black tea with a peach scent. It smelled very peachy, but the taste was subtle…I really liked it.

No sugar needed, but I love the look of sugar cubes IMG_9255

Food! Tea sandwiches…

  • Smoked salmon
  • shrimp & avocado
  • egg salad
  • smoked turkey

They were all obviously more involved than that but the descriptions weren’t written anywhere.

Mmmmm smoked salmon. It always works out perfect…I get both smoked salmons and my mom eats both egg salads ( I’m not a fan of egg salad, and my mom of smoked salmon).

Of course there were scones, breads, and cookies

And petit pastries…

  • blueberry tart
  • carrot cake
  • this pecan pie bite
  • a chocolaty-layer cake thing too

One of my favs…scone with Devonshire cream and jam.

We walked around the hotel for a bit afterwards…

Had such a fun day!

I can’t wait to come back to the Sea Grille for lunch at one of their outdoor tables! The food I saw looked awesome!

  8. I really don't think there's anything better than afternoon tea. Total girl (or high-brow guy) thing, but so satisfying!
