Let the Wedding and Honeymoon Recaps Begin!

I’m back!

Ok, so I’ve been back since last Friday…in the physical sense at least.  I’m usually not affected by jet lag that much but this week I have been really tired in the evenings, haven't even cracked open my laptop at home for a few days!!

So I know I owe you guys many recaps, so I might as well get going on that!

I still don’t have my professional wedding pictures, and wont for another few weeks.  So in the mean time I’ve seen some that my friends and family took.

As I mentioned before, we got ready at my mom’s house!  I was so happy when my friend sent me these pictures a few days ago because there weren't many pictures (other than professional) once the dress was on!

Those little buttons are tricky (sorry mom, friends, …and Brian hahah).

The ceremony was at St Catherine of Genoa church in Somerville, MA.  This church was less than 1mile from my old apartment, and it’s absolutely gorgeous inside!  Didn’t need ANY decoration.churchchurch2

I can’t wait to see our video of this.  We had a trumpeter in addition to the organist and the music sounded so amazing in that church.

As some of you may know my dad passed away about 2.5 years ago, and so my mom walked me down the aisle.  We walked to trumpet voluntary (LOVE this music).  I also wrapped a locket around my bouquet with a little picture of my dad inside :)  me mom aisle

Another reason I can’t wait to see the video, is that my poor non-Catholic husband got a little flustered and definitely said something along the lines of “in the name of the Father, the Lord and the Holy Ghost” haha… and I guess not everyone is going to get that, but it was funny to me anyway.

The reception followed at the historic Lyman Estate in Waltham, MA.

The veranda outside the ballroom…here we had some cocktail tables and 1 of the bars:

Dinner was in a tent!

I loved this site the first time we visited!  My mom was hesitant because all she knows for weddings is hotel weddings, which are fine but not what I wanted.  It’s more work, but I really wanted to pick my own caterer, and rentals, and florist…etc.  There are no packages at these types of places.  This lends itself to much more flexibility and room to find ways to save $$!  For instance, because this Estate has no liquor license we had to supply the alcohol and had to have an open bar…no monetary compensation allowed.  We were able to pick all our wines, beers, and liquors from a local store who also buys back anything you don’t use!  MUCH cheaper than a regular per person price for an open bar like more hotels and restaurants have.

I’ll explain more of what we had at the wedding when I get the prof. pictures in.  I have no pictures right now of the music, the candy!, the place settings…etc.

For now here’s some reception photos…cakes, cake cutting, dances, and more dancing!

All I can say is I didn’t want it to end!  When the music finally stopped everyone was still on the dance floor and seemed like we could still go for another hour at least!!  However, it was time to go and it was all over in a blink of an eye.

I’m going to do my best not to get all blog-backed up with these recaps that I loose track of what's going on in the day to day life of the BAMs! (yes that’s right, we both now have the same initials).   There will, however, be many more to come…I have SO many honeymoon photos!

  6. What can I NOT compliment?! The cakes, the church, the reception estate--everything is simple, chic, and elegant. I love it all! I especially enjoy the multiple cakes...so cute! Are they just smaller individual ones instead of one large cake?

I love the locket idea around your flowers. Such a beautiful tribute to your dad <3

  8. Beautiful picture. My dad died when I was very young so we left a seat open for him on the aisle next to my mom where he would have sat. It meant so much to me having that seat for him. I know that it wasn't his choice to not be there.
