Bloggers do Bosu and Picnic

In that order of course, it would not have been a pretty site if we ate before Bosu class!

So last night was a really fun blogger event involving: Healthworks, Whole Foods, Joos, and Mix Bakery…um, yes please!

Luckily I was able to shimmy out of work a little early and get down to Boston for the beginning of the event.  It started with a few of us having the chance to stroll around Copley Farmer’s Market.  This market is on Tuesdays and Fridays so I never get a chance to go because I don’t work in the city.  There were so many beautiful items there…

I didn’t make any purchases but it was nice to walk around.

Then back to Healthworks to get ready for a 30 minute Bosu class.

I had never used a Bosu before, I’ve seen them around, but haven’t had a chance to try it out so I was really excited to finally get the chance.

I knew it was all about balance and using your core, and honestly I didn’t think it would be all that hard…I mean I have good balance, I've danced all my life…right???  So I thought!

SO much harder than I thought!!  Those 30 minutes were intense and I was full on sweating :)  It was a great fast workout and we covered all the major muscles groups.

Then it was time to freshen up and get ready for a picnic.

IMG_0862

The picnic dinner was sponsored by Whole Foods and we had a choice of which “brown bag” meal we could choose.

I went with the Turkey.

We took our dinners and walked back over to Copley Square to lounge on the grass and enjoy the evening.

The ladies from Whole Foods, Melissa and Lynay, spoke briefly about their stores and their initiative to spread the word about healthy eating.

I loved the dinners that were packed for us.  The sandwich was not overly huge but very filling…lot’s of turkey.

and a fresh fruit cup!

I wish they would pack my lunch everyday :)

We also got to try samples of Joos.  Joos is an organic juice company which delivers fresh Joos to the Boston area.  You can do a cleanse or just order single Joos’s.  We tried 3 flavors, a green Joos, a carrot Joos, and a beet Joos.  My favorite was the carrot!  But the best thing was the Joos Bites!

IMG_0875

These are little mini muffins made from the pulp left over after juicing.  So they are FULL of all the vitamins and nutrients from the veggies and fruits that make the joos.  Plus they even had chocolate chips!

I saved my Joos Bite for this morning and wished I had more than just 1!

Then…the finale.  I was finally going to be able to try the Mix Bakery cupcakes I’ve heard about on so many Boston blogs!

Kelly has an incredible thing going on here…these are FANTASTIC!

There were mini cupcakes: chocolate with PB frosting and carrot with cream cheese frosting.

HOLY INCREDIBLE

IMG_0881

I had one of each…

then went back for a 3rd (choc. PB).

then learned that 4 mini = 1 regular.

so I went back for another carrot!

Amazing.

Bloggers in the park…

This was a fabulous evening and I want to give a BIG thanks to Healthworks for inviting me!!

Unfortunately I don’t live or work near a Healthworks :(  so I am sadly not a member, but for those of you who may be thinking about joining…DO IT!!  The club was gorgeous and the amenities were top notch.  They have so many cool classes too!  While waiting to go to dinner there was a Zumba class in session that I was really tempted to just join in right there in my sun dress :)

Didn’t convince you yet??  Well how about a free 3-day trial!?  Healthworks is offering Yogurt and Berries readers a special 3-day trial pass: click on the link below

Hell, I might even use the pass on a long weekend or something!

(side note: all pics taken on old camera…I was nervous to bring out the big guns last night hehe)

Good night blog-land!
Hope you have sweet dreams about mini cupcakes.
